South African Sign Language Dictionary

SLED has developed a South African Sign Language (SASL) dictionary that covers basic vocabulary including, but not limited to, food, places, household objects, people, emotions, questions and time. The book and accompanying DVD have been designed not only as a reference for SASL vocabulary, but also to give a sound introduction to the grammar of the language.

Sign Language Dictionary

The launch of the world's first online Animated Sign Language dictionary prototype was a huge success. We are entering the second phase now and plan to add 1500 Sign Language terms.

Dtv Salutes Braam Jordaan

Braam Jordaan, a young Capetonian, from a predominantly deaf family is currently working as film/animation director. Film and Animation are obviously a very good choice as it is very visually-driven and the only thing he could not do was the sound, but being Deaf has never put him down. The colours are his music! The cartoon Graca TV commercials are one of his latest work. Visit his website at www.braamjordaan.com for more information.
